Private Label Rights

Among all products with resell rights, products with private label rights are without doubt most popular and most bespoken nowadays. So let's look at these famous 'Private Label Rights ' (aka PLR) products and find out why they are so good for online business.

As a reseller you are always interested in finding new and in-demand products that you can sell. Ordinary resell rights and master resell rights allow you to sell other peoples' products as 'other people's products'. In most cases you mustn't change the product in any way and the product must be sold with the original title and author's name on it. There's nothing bad in this business concept and you can certainly profit as a reseller by buying and selling products with ordinary resell rights or master resell rights, but there is even better concept that allows you to 'private label' the product, which means that you are allowed to change the product in various ways and even to put your own name on it as the author.

The most obvious benefit of private label rights products is that you can create a line of your own products out of them and sell them with your name as the author. This benefit is huge because creating your own products from scratch or hiring a ghostwriter or programmer for that purpose is both very expensive and time consuming. One 50 page ebook written by ghostwriter would cost you $500-$1500, while you can buy very good PLR ebooks for $50-$150, which means that PLR ebooks are 10 times cheaper then ghostwritten ebooks. This applies even other types of products.

Ebooks are not the only type of product that you can buy with private label rights. Products that are typically sold with private label rights are:

- private label articles
- private label ebooks
- private label audios
- private label videos
- private label software (you get 'source code rights').

In order to 'private label' the product you have to buy private label rights to the product from product owner. They are more expensive than ordinary rights, but as I said, they are much cheaper compared to creating products from scratch. If you know how to use private label rights products properly and if you are willing to put some work in product customisation you can make really good profits and build a stable branch of your business in the long run.

Now please remember this, it is crucial for success with PLR products: same PLR products are sold to you and to others and that is why you need to customize those products in order to make them unique. Only if you understand that you must change the original PLR product in order to make it profitable and 'your own', then you understand the whole point with PLR business concept. Modify your PLR products and you can prosper and earn big, otherwise your profit can be next to nothing.

There are actually two different purposes with products that you can buy with private label rights:

a) Products that you are not going to sell but use as content to build your websites, your ezine, autoresponder messages, your blogs, etc. Content is what you need to build your web presence and, as you know, good content created by others is very expensive. When you buy ebooks, articles, audios or videos with private label rights you can use those products or parts of them to build your web content. Again, you have to modify the original PLR content in order to make your web content unique. Otherwise you will not rank well in search engines and your number of visitors will decrease because nobody wants to consume the same content twice. On the other hand, if you modify your PLR content you can save huge, have more visitors and rank well in search engines.

b) Products with private label rights that you are going to sell.
When you aim to buy a product with private label rights that you want to sell be aware that there can be many variations in seller's terms and conditions. I will count just a couple of them:

- You can modify the product and put your name on it but you have no right whatsoever to sell the product. This is so called 'personal use private label rights'. Such products are only good for building your own web content, you are not allowed to sell them.

- You can sell the product with or without modifications, but you cannot sell any kind of resell rights to that product.

- You can sell the product with or without modifications and you can sell resell rights (and master resell rights) to the product, but you cannot sell private label rights to the product. This is so called “non-transferable” private label rights with (master) resell rights.

- You can sell the product with or without modifications, master resell rights to the product and private label rights to the product. In this case, if you sell private label rights your customer gets private label rights, but he cannot sell it to his customers.

- You can sell the product with or without modifications, master resell rights to the product, private label rights to the product and the master resell rights to private label rights itself. This is so called 'master resell private label rights', which means that anybody who buys the product can sell all kinds of rights including private label rights.

There are even more possible variations in private label rights terms and conditions and that's why you have to read it carefully in order to understand what you can do with your product. As you can see, things with rights become a little bit complicated when you deal with private label rights but it is worth the effort to understand them. Legal consequences can be very, very bad for your business if you don't understand your rights or even consciously break the terms and conditions.
