If you’re just getting started in the internet marketing business, you’re
probably still developing your own business plan and trying to figure out just
how you’ll make money. Internet marketing can be a challenging thing, and most
beginners simply give up on it because they just don’t know what to do. Resell
rights are one of the fundamentals of internet marketing, and something all
newbies should learn about. In this lesson, you’ll be taught the basics of
resell rights.
Resell Rights: What They Are?
As an internet marketer, you will be looking to sell products. Most likely, you
will not create these products yourself, but rather, you’ll purchase them from
people. Now you might be thinking that you’ll be selling physical products, that
is, those that must be shipped to customers. But that’s not really how internet
marketing works anymore. Internet marketers nowadays sell products
electronically. The two most popular forms of electronic products are ebooks and
software.
When you buy an ebook or software as a customer, you are usually not allowed to
sell it again and again to your customers. Instead, you’ve purchased only the
reading and using rights to the ebook and software, but nothing more than that.
So, essentially, you cannot resell the product. It’s yours to use and read, but
not yours to sell.
Here’s where resell rights come into the picture. Say you’ve bought an ebook and
think it’s a really great book that could sell a lot of copies. You want to be
able to resell this ebook and keep the profits from it in a legal way. How can
you accomplish this? You can do it by buying the resell rights to the ebook. The
resell rights basically tell you that you can resell this product to your
customers and make money off of it.
Two Types of Resell Rights
OK, so we just told you what resell rights are, but now it’s time to tell you
about the two types of resell rights: basic and master resell rights.
Basic Resell Rights
When you purchase the basic resell rights to a product, you are able to sell the
product to customers, but they may not resell it. They only legally have the
right to read/use the product, but not to turn around and sell it. You can think
of it this way: you’re running a bookstore and selling books. These books can be
read, but not re-sold.
Master Resell Rights
Let’s suppose you want to raise your resell profits. The best way to do this is
to offer resell rights to your own customers. The only way you can legally do
this is to purchase the master resell rights for a product. The master resell
rights allow you to either sell the product and not allow it to be resold, or to
sell the product with resell rights and allow it to be resold. As you can
imagine, by giving a customer the right to resell, it means that you can charge
a higher rate for the product because the customer knows they’ll be able to make
back the money they’ve spent. Having master resell rights, while costing more
money, can really pay off in the long run.
How Much Does Buying Resell Rights and Master Resell Rights Cost?
There really is no easy answer to this question. The cost of resell and master
resell rights will entirely depend on the type of product being purchased, its
popularity, and the seller. It might cost as little as $100, or as much as
several thousands of dollars. If you are unsure about whether a price you’ve
been quoted on for a product with resell rights is fair or not, you might want
to ask on an internet marketing forum.
Should I Get Resell Rights?
Absolutely! There really is no easier way to make money in internet marketing
than to resell products you’ve bought from someone else. While the up front
investment might be a bit much, it really does end up doing wonders for a
business. Profits increase and sales go through the roof. Purchasing the resell
rights for your business can really be the main determining factor in whether or
not your business is successful.
