Internet marketers are constantly looking for new ways to make money. Chances
are, you're probably one of these marketers who wants to increase your income.
You've probably heard a ton about resell rights, and how offering them can
really increase your business. But you're still not sure if this is the right
step to take or not. It's not an easy decision to make, and it's something that
warrants much thought. We'll tell you all about the pros and cons of offering
resell rights on your products in this article so that you can make an educated
decision for your business.
The Pros
Offering resell rights can do a lot for your business and your income. There are
several pros to offering these rights when selling products, some of which are
covered here.
When you buy an ebook with resell rights, you are essentially investing or
“buying” a business. The ebook and its resell rights that you purchase become
your own. You can resell the ebook and reap the profits. Entrepreneurs are
always looking to make smart business decisions, and so they have begun to get
into internet marketing and purchase successful products with resell rights.
What does this all have to do with you? Well, when you offer the resell rights
to a product you are selling, you open your business up to a whole new world of
customers. Rather than restricting yourself to selling to just customers who
want to use your product, you're instead opening the product up to those
customers, as well as business people who want to resell your product. You are
increasing your profits in this way.
Giving resell rights to a product also allows you to set your price. If you were
just selling the product for use, you'd have to charge a price that is
competitive with other similar products. When you offer resell rights, because
it allows customers to make money by buying your product, you are able to charge
more money. This, again, results in more of a profit for you.
Resell rights allow internet marketers to have greater financial freedom. You
can literally make $50-100K a year just by successfully offering resell rights
for the products you sell as a marketer. That's obviously the biggest pro of
them all: the ability to make a consistent income.
The Cons
Like anything else in internet marketing, there are some cons to offering resell
rights. The most notable of these is that you will be creating more competition
for yourself. Once you sell that product with resell rights, whoever buys it is
free to turn around and sell it themselves, quite possibly for a lower price
than you offer. This can result in a smaller profit than before, but only if the
market which the book is in is a particularly competitive one. This is something
you should consider when thinking about the issue of whether or not to offer
resell rights. You do not want to offer these rights when the market for your
product is competitive.
So What Do I Do?
Ultimately, what you decide about offering resell rights for your product will
depend on two things: the type of product and the market. If the product is
something that would earn more money by being offered in a traditional retail
sense, such as an expensive piece of software, then you're doing your business a
great disservice by offering resell rights. If, however, it is a cheaper
product, like an ebook, it is best to offer resell rights from a financial
standpoint. Secondly, you'll want to think about the market (whether it's
competitive or not so competitive) and decide based on that whether you want to
offer resell rights or not. The key here is to just think it over thoroughly
before making a choice.
