As an internet marketer, you should always be looking for new ways to boost
sales and increase profits. It is thus crucial that you keep yourself up to date
on all the methods of doing this. One of these methods is by offering resell
rights on your products. We've covered this extensively in our article on resell
rights, so we're not going to go over that again. What we will go over is
another method using resell rights to increase profits, and that is how to use
resell rights as an upsell.
What is an Upsell?
The term upsell is confusing to many beginning internet marketers. What exactly
does it mean? The easiest way to describe the upsell is to use an example.
You've probably used Amazon.com, a terrific source for books and much more. When
you order a book through Amazon, Amazon automatically offers you the chance to
buy books which are similar to the book you are ordering. So if you are ordering
a book on the Electric guitar, you'll be shown other books on the Electric
guitars that you can also buy. You can think of it this way: when you buy
something, the seller offers you the right to buy something else to go with it.
If you're buying a burger, the seller might say “would you like fries with
that?” That's the purest, simplest example of an upsell.
How to Use Resell Rights as an Upsell
It's already been established how great resell rights are when it comes to
selling products. They can make it possible for you to earn a lot more money.
But how exactly do you use resell rights as an upsell?
Let's say you're running a business that sells a variety of products. You might
be selling ebooks or software. When a customer goes to make a purchase of your
product, you want to see if you can get them to pay a bit more money. You might
say to them “would you like to also purchase the resell rights for this
product?” That's an upsell, and is likely something they will take you up on,
particularly if you know that they are in the internet marketing business
themselves.
It'd be nice if it were this simple. However, it usually takes more effort than
this to effectively use resell rights as an upsell. You'll have to do a good job
of convincing your customers that they really should also purchase the resell
rights. For instance, when offering them the opportunity to purchase resell
rights, you might want to delve into an in depth discussion of the benefits of
having resell rights for the product. You might want to tell them that they are
making an investment which could allow them to make a lot of money on the
purchase. You might also want to present them figures on just how much they can
make from reselling the product.
You should definitely do all of these things before even mentioning the price,
especially if you are charging a good amount of money for the rights. There's
nothing worse than killing a potential sale by mentioning a price tag that is a
little higher than what the customer is willing to pay.
If you follow the suggestions we've given you in this article, and are a good
salesperson, you should have no problems using resell rights as an upsell and
increasing your profits.
