In an attempt to increase traffic to their websites, web masters are turning to
new methods of boosting traffic. Some of these methods are quite effective,
while others aren't so much. Internet marketers are especially interested in
getting more traffic because, for them, it means more potential sales of their
products. One of the best methods of getting more traffic for your site is to
use articles. Not sure how it works? Well strap yourself in - you're about to
get a crash course.
Articles: The Basics
Sites like eZine and Associated Content allow everyday people to submit
articles. These articles are then placed on their site and are read by millions
of people. Both sites allow at least a couple of links in an article. These
links, known as reference links, are often clicked by people who are interested
in finding out more about the topic of the article.
Why They're Useful for Internet Marketers Looking to Sell More Products
Articles posted on the two sites we've mentioned are read by millions of people.
It's quite a lot of exposure, particularly for an internet marketer who is
trying to attract some attention to their product. When you write an article and
include reference links to your web site, you're opening your product up to
millions of people.
How to Use Articles to Gain More Visitors
If you want to use articles to attract more visitors, you must know how to do it
in the correct manner. Otherwise, it's basically a waste of time. Follow the
guideline below for how to use articles to drive traffic to your website.
- Start with a Title. Think about your product. What does it help people do? If
it's an ebook, what is the title of the book and what information can readers
get from it? If it's a program, what kind of features does it have? Using this
information, you should be able to craft a good article title that will make
people want to read.
- Keywords. If you know anything about search engine optimization, you'll know
that the correct use of keywords in articles is essential. That's because when a
person goes looking for information, they'll usually use a specific keyword to
do it. For instance, they might use a key phrase like “guitar articles”. If you
run a site that is selling guitar software, you'll want to use keywords like
“PRS electric guitar” etc. You should try to use these keywords 5-10 times per
article, as this will lead to more people finding the article which in turn can
lead to more people coming to your site.
- No Sales Letter. A big mistake made by internet marketers looking to use
articles to boost traffic is writing articles that push a product too hard.
These articles are almost never published by the article site, and if they are,
they aren't well received by readers. People don't like reading articles that
are blatantly promoting products. They want to be fed some information. When
writing your article, make sure it does just that. Give your readers useful
information and they'll enjoy the article.
- Correct Link Placement. This is also very crucial. You don't want to overdo it
with the linking, so you need to be careful and do it the right way. Most
article sites allow the use of 1-3 links per article. You'll probably only want
to use 1 or 2 at the most, though. A common way of putting links to a specific
site in an article is to put a link at the beginning and one at the end. The
link at the end may be proceeded by a sentence that says “for more information
on this subject, check out insert site here. “ This is a very subtle way of
linking and is very effective.
