Internet marketing takes a lot of time, as you well know. So why in the world would you spend all that time and effort to just sell one single product? If you are a smart marketer, you won’t. When you bring someone to your site, and they make a purchase, you will do everything in your power to sell them as many products as they are willing to buy.

Don’t have an ‘ordinary’ order page. Instead, use the Amazon.com concept. If you’ve ever ordered a product from Amazon.com, you may have noticed that during the ordering process, you were shown a list of related products that other customers purchased when making this purchase. The title of the list says something to the effect of ‘other customer’s who bought this product also purchased…’

Ideally, you will have a shopping cart system set up that will allow your customers to check the boxes next to the additional products that they want before proceeding with their order, and they will be buying several products at once.

Of course, if this type of shopping cart system is more than you are willing to do right now, there are other options. The first option is the OTO, or One Time Offer, which we briefly touched on earlier. After they have completed their order, they are presented with a one time offer for an additional product.

This product may have a special price, or it may be a ‘limited edition’ that is only available for purchase with the product that they have already agreed to purchase. Make it as exclusive as you possibly can, and let your customer know that they will never see the offer again, and that this product will not be available anywhere else, at any other time. This is a wonderful use for a PLR product.

There are numerous quality OTO scripts that you can use. Get one that will allow you to present each customer with more than one OTO. At the same time, do not deluge your customers with offers. Don’t offer more than three OTO products after a sale, or you will start to irritate them.

Again, a perfect example of getting the most possible mileage out of one sale is Amazon.com. Another good example of this is GoDaddy.com. Order something from both of these companies, so that you can get a look at the ordering process.

Make it easy for your customers to buy additional products from you. They should not have to do anything more than to check a box. When they go through the OTO system or the shopping cart system, and want those additional products that you are offering, make it possible for them to quickly order, without having to put all of their information in again.

There is a common mistake that resellers often make. Resell products are usually not high priced. (...)

There is a common mistake that resellers often make. Resell products are usually not high priced. Because they are so cheaply priced for the customer, the marketer doesn’t make a big enough deal about the product.

You have to market your product like each sale is worth $1000 to you – even if in reality each sale is only worth $10 or $40. This is where many marketers mess up. You see, they may go through all of the motions – they get the product, get the domain name, set up the sales page, upload the product, make the changes that need to be made and start doing their ‘usual’ promotion routine.

That sounds pretty boring, right? It is, and when you do it enough times, somehow your own energy stops coming through to your customers. The squeaky wheel gets the grease – and you want to start squeaking loudly!

Of course, you will email your list about the product. That is usually the first thing a marketer does with any type of product. The list, after all, is your goldmine. But, how excited are you going to be about that $40 product? If you want true success, you need to be as excited about that $40 product as you would be about a $1000 product. Give that cheaper product the same amount of love and attention.

However, being squeaky goes further than being excited - You also need to be different. This is something that you’ve probably heard a thousand times before – stand out from the competition. Naturally, there are certain things you are going to do – and so is your competition. These activities include:

Emailing your opt-in list about the product.

Submitting articles that relate to the product to the article directories.

Running a Google AdWord campaign.

Blogging about the product

Using Web 2.0 concepts, such as social networking and social bookmarking

But there are others things that you can do that most or all of your competition will not do. Are you selling a piece of software? Make a screen shot tutorial video teaches people how to do things with that software. Give that product away and list it at every tutorial site that you can find.

Consider advertising your product on one of the advertising networks. These networks will send your message out, via email, to millions of people who are interested in your topic. There is a cost – but there is a greater monetary reward. This is something that only big companies do, in most cases, but there is no reason that you can’t do it as well.

Revert to old advertising methods that your competition is ignoring. Place several ezine ads. Most classified ad sites are not good, but Craig’s List, at http://www.craigslist.com, is more popular than ever – and still going strong. Make sure you drop several advertisements there (it’s free).

With your pay-per-click advertising campaigns, find related keywords that your competition is not bidding on, and capture those customers. Forum marketing is also still quite effective, and should not be ignored. People also still use Usenet Newsgroups. Find the quality newsgroups, participate in the threads, and use your email signature, promoting your related product.

Hold a contest, and instead of initially promoting the product, promote the contest. The prize could be anything – such as a free membership to your subscription website, a free product, or even a gift certificate to a restaurant. It doesn’t have to be a huge prize - it just needs to get people to your site, where they are going to see your sales letter.

Go to your favorite search engine and do a search for your product. This way, you can see exactly how your competitors are promoting your product. Ideally, you want to use all of those methods, and then some. Make your ads bigger and brighter. Use more attention getting headlines than they are using. Market in places that they either don’t know about, accidentally overlooked, or completely ignored altogether.

Teleseminars are big these days, but usually reserved for original products and services, where the product or service owner is interviewed or something to that affect. Very seldom will a reseller hold a teleseminar to promote their product. They don’t use this extremely effective marketing method because they don’t think that it deserves the attention of a product that other people are also selling. They are incredibly wrong! Host that teleseminar.

Your competitors – those people selling the same exact product – are going to use the latest marketing techniques for the most part. They are going to spend a lot of time choosing just the right keywords. They are going to spend loads of time working on page rank and search engine optimization.

This is not to say that you shouldn’t do these things as well. You just need to spend less time using methods that are still incredibly effective, and when using the same methods as other resellers, you need to get more creative than they are. Allways do everything you can think out to get as much attention as possible.

Since anything that you sell – whether it has your name on it as the author or not – will have an impact on how your customers perceive you, obviously you don’t want to sell any product that isn’t high quality. However, the truth is that you can sell any thing, whether it is of high quality or low quality, if the sales page is good enough.

Unless you can afford to hire a copywriter (they are very expensive), you should consider taking a copywriting course. Ideally, you should select a course written by someone who has made their living from copywriting.

These courses are costly, but not nearly as expensive as the services of the copywriter – and in the long run, failing to take the course will most likely result in lost money from unmade sales. Do yourself a favor and invest in a good copywriting course!

With that said, there are some basic copywriting techniques that you will want to use in your sales letter. There are numerous different experts that will give you different information about what to include in a sales letter, and while there are so many different opinions, there are some things that all experts agree upon.

You need a good headline. As an advanced marketer, this is probably something that you already know. You want a headline and a sub-headline that captures the customer’s attention. It should address a problem that is related to your product in some way – for which your product is the solution.

You also need to touch on the senses a bit, and write the sales letter in a way that addresses people’s common desires. Everybody wants to be smarter, richer, and better looking. Your sales letter should convince readers that your product is going to do at least one of those three things for them. At the same time, you want to avoid hype. Hype turns people off, and most people can now spot it a mile away.

The sales letter should include bullet points, and it should be ‘scannable.’ This means that certain words should jump out from the page at the reader. You do this by highlighting words and making them bold.

Your sales page should also have a full money back guarantee. As you know, this is a very important aspect of the sales page, and when a refund is requested, it should be immediately issued, with no questions asked.

Again, as an advanced marketer, you probably already know these basics for copywriting, and if you have not taken a full copywriting course, this is something that you should definitely consider – because it does mean the difference between being successful and unsuccessful. Furthermore, with resell products, the sales letter and your marketing methods are what set you apart from the other resellers of that product – because the product and the product title are the same as what those other resellers are selling. Therefore, you must have a top-notch sales page.

Many resell products and private label rights products come with a sales page. You can use that sales page, and there are usually instructions for making the necessary changes to the sales page – such as replacing the order button with your own order button. However, in today’s flooded markets, this is no longer enough.

Like a PLR product, when you are finished with your sales page, it shouldn’t resemble the sales page that arrived with the product. This doesn’t mean that you can’t use it as a guideline. You can rewrite the sales page, and it can say the exact same thing, using different words. This is usually a quick and easy process, and does not require a great deal of copywriting skill – as long as the sales page was professional written in the first place.

However, changing the words may not be enough either. Change the color scheme as well. If it is allowed, change the ecover for the product. As long as the name of the product and the product itself are not being changed, this is not usually a problem. Make your ecover for that product different from everyone else’s.

Test at least two different sales pages for your product to see how well the sales copy is working for you. Test just one feature of the sales page at a time. For example, have two identical sales pages, but change the headline on one of them. After you’ve determined which headline pulls in the most sales, change another element of the sales page. Keep working your way down the page until you have the best possible sales page for the product.

Change the sales page to include your own bonus offers. Make sure that you include a description, a value, and a box shot of the cover for the bonus products. Make them an important part of your offer.

Again, the quality of the product does indeed matter, because it is ‘connected’ to you in your customer’s minds. At the same time however, success is not so much about what you are selling as it is about how you are selling it.

If you want the best possible results, for the least amount of money, go ahead and invest in a good course that will help you to produce top quality sales copy. The course may be costly, but in the end, the sales that you make from great sales copy will pay you back over and over again.

Private Label Rights offer something that resell rights and master resell rights cannot offer you. (...)

Private Label Rights offer something that resell rights and master resell rights cannot offer you. First, if you have private label rights to a product, you also in most cases have the resell rights and the master resell rights to that product. As mentioned earlier, the only real drawback to a PLR product is that it is not a ‘finished’ product, despite how ‘finished’ it may appear to be.

Here are some tips for working with private label rights products:

Go into the PLR purchase knowing that changes must be made, and be prepared to make those changes so that you can get the product to market as fast as possible.

Change the title of the product. If the product is an ebook, change chapter and sub-chapter titles as well. Don’t assume that this is all that must be changed however. Hire a ghostwriter to rewrite the product.

As with a resell rights product, completely change the sales page and all graphics, including the ecover for the product.

When the product is redone, make sure it bears little or no resemblance to the original product, with the exception of being related to the same topic.

Give your product more value, without making huge changes. One way to do this is to change the presentation of the content. For example, if you’ve purchased a PLR ebook, you could turn that ebook into a video broadcast. You could also turn it into a PowerPoint Presentation that is a bit more ‘fancy’ than the ebook. There are many options. Explore them.

Know when to give, and when to receive. With PLR products, there is no set price that you must sell the product for. You are free to give the products away. These products can be used to build an opt-in list, or as bonuses.

Push your own name before you push someone else’s. If you have a resell product, with someone else’s name on it, and a PLR product that has been redone, and now has your name on it, make the PLR product the main product for sale, and offer the resell product as a bonus.

Private Label Rights makes it easier to ‘pair’ products. For example, if you are a reseller for a software product, you could find PLR articles on that topic that can easily be turned into an informative ebook that will nicely accompany the software.

Join a quality, limited membership PLR club. This will not only keep you in fresh PLR content, but it will also make the content more value, because it is only available to a certain number of people.

You don’t have to pay a lot for a PLR product. As long as the information is correct, the product itself does not need to be a higher quality product. Because you have creative control with PLR material, you can easily turn a low quality product into a top quality product.

Use your PLR articles to promote your other products. A PLR articles typically does not require many changes – although changes must be made. It is very easy and fast to make those changes, and then you have a ‘ready to go’ promotional tool for anything else that you are selling. Don’t ignore the value of a set of PLR articles, as opposed to a full-fledged PLR product.

These PLR articles can be used for article repositories, email courses, web pages, or anything else that you want to use them for in the promotion of your other products.

In your search for PLR products, you will discover PLR audios. These are typically done with professional voice overs, and they are great products. Unfortunately, you can’t change the audio.

What you can do, however, is listen to it, and then create your own audio – with either your own voice or that of a professional – based on the information that the PLR audio contains. Because it was a PLR product to begin with, you won’t be infringing on copyrights. A great idea is to use the PLR article as material for a podcast. Podcasts are very easy to do these days – and quite popular.

Again, try to avoid just seeking out one particular license. There is nothing wrong with using a mix of resell rights products, master resell rights products, and Private label rights products. By doing so, you are only increasing the revenue possibilities overall.

The important thing about PLR is to make it as unique as possible. Once again, the only drawback is that you must make changes to the product before you can use it, unlike resell rights products.

Overall, you would do the same things with a master resell rights product as you would with a resell product. (...)

Overall, you would do the same things with a master resell rights product as you would with a resell product. However, because you have something additional to sell, there are some additional things that you will do. Here are some tips for working with master resell rights.

If possible, try to get exclusive master resell rights. If you find a product that only offers resell rights, talk to the product creator and see if you can work out a deal so that you have exclusive master resell rights as well. Naturally, you want a quality product that is doing well.

As with product sales, offer your potential resell rights customers something that nobody else offers them. Include a well-designed sales page and graphics in the package. Give them a free marketing course or instructional video for using the resell rights package. Give them more than anybody else!

Make good use of your thank you page. If someone has purchased resell rights from you, they are in the business of reselling products – or at the very least, they want to be. Offer them additional products, or related products, for which resell rights are for sale. Get as much money as possible out of each and every sale. Using an OTO or One Time Offer script has proven to be very successful in this situation.

Let it be known that the resell rights are indeed for sale. This should appear on the sales page. There can be two options for ordering, or one. You could opt to have an order button for the product, and an order button for the product, including the resell rights. You could also opt just to offer the product with the resell rights, whether the buyer wants those rights or not.

There is a difference, however. You really need to know if the resell rights were desired or not so that you can present the customer with the appropriate thank you page or OTO. If they wanted the rights, the OTO would offer additional products with rights. If they only wanted the product, the OTO could present related products, regardless of whether or not the rights for those products were also for sale.

Make your resell rights valuable. If you are offering the product and the product with resell rights, the price difference should be fairly broad. The price that you name determines how valuable someone else thinks that those rights are. Don’t sell those rights short!

Know where to market what. If you had an informational product for diabetics, you would want to market that product in places where diabetics may be found online – naturally. But the majority of diabetics who will be interested in the information will have no interest in the resell rights. Market the product with resell rights where people who are interested in marketing and business can be found – whether they are interested in diabetic information or not.

Have two sales pages. As discussed in the previous tip, when you own master resell rights, you have two groups to market to – those who are interested in the information, and those who are interested in the rights. Design two sales pages to cater to those two different markets.

Read your email! Find out who the creators of resell products are, and make sure that you get on their lists. This is the fastest way to be notified about a new resell rights product becoming available. Those who get in on the deal first tend to make the most amount of money from the product – before it is flooding the market.

The same holds true when it comes to master resell rights – if you are offering those resell rights to others before every resell rights product marketer on the planet is, you will make the most money, in the shortest amount of time.

Don’t make the mistake of trying to remain exclusive with your master resell rights. The product creator is going to sell those same rights to many other people – although you hope that number is limited. Don’t think that by not offering the resell rights to others that you are keeping the market fresh for yourself. If you don’t sell those rights, someone else will – and they will be pocketing the profits, instead of you.

Don’t assume that a product or the resell rights to that product have outlived their purpose. We make the mistake of assuming that ‘everyone’ is online and that ‘everyone’ who wants to start their own Internet business has already done so. More and more users come online –for the first time – everyday. If nothing else, make sure that your sales page stays listed in the search engines and that there are articles out there with a link to those sales pages as well.

Again, if master resell rights are offered, it is usually in your best interest to purchase those rights – as long as the product meets all other criteria. Just like resell rights, even if it doesn’t appear that the master resell rights are available for purchase, contact the product creator and see if you can work out a deal. You would be surprised at how many resell rights product marketers don’t do this, and this gives you the opportunity to be the first to offer something that nobody else is offering.

After you have made sure that a product with resell rights meets or exceeds the criteria mentioned earlier, you need to know how to get the maximum mileage out of that product. (...)

After you have made sure that a product with resell rights meets or exceeds the criteria mentioned earlier, you need to know how to get the maximum mileage out of that product. Here are some advanced strategies for resell rights:

Read the license. Make sure that you fully understand how you are allowed to use the product. If you don’t understand something, contact the product creator.

This one should be basic knowledge, but it is surprising how many people fail at this. Change the sales page! You do not, under any circumstances, want your sales page to look like anyone else’s. Change it!

Gather your bonuses. Choose bonuses that are directly related to – but not in competition with – the resell product. Make sure that they are quality products, and put a value on them. People want to know the dollar value that they are getting for their money.

Give your product its own website, with its own domain name. Ideally, you should have a host that allows you to host an unlimited number of domains, for one low monthly cost. You can get such an account at Hostgator (http://www.hostgator.com) for about fifteen bucks a month. Spend the ten bucks for a year on a domain name for the product; change the nameservers to point to your hostgator account, and get it all set up there.

If you do not already have an opt-in list for the niche that this product falls in, start building one. Use a free giveaway – or create a free giveaway using a PLR product – that relates to this product. Create an opt-in page, and run a short AdWords campaign to get traffic to that page.

Write an article that relates to this topic. Send that article out to your opt-in list, and then submit it to about five or ten article directories.

Find out if you can run a Google AdWords campaign for this product (sometimes this is not allowed). If so, look to see if others are already running a campaign. Pay attention to the keywords they are using.

Set up your own Google AdWords campaign, and stay away from the top keywords that relate to your product. Instead, go with the keywords that are still related, but not as ‘hot.’ You may think this results in lower traffic, but that isn’t necessarily true – because you won’t be competing for listing placement in search results quite as much, and you will pay less for the keywords, for higher placement.

    .

Get testimonials for your sales page – even if there are already testimonials that were provided by the product creator. You can ask your friends to write testimonials for you. You want your own testimonials because you want yours to be different from everyone else’s.

After setting up your website, bookmark it. Join OnlyWire at http://www.onlywire.com. Join the bookmarking sites that OnlyWire works with, and add the OnlyWire icon to your toolbar. Click that icon, put in the appropriate keywords, and hit the submit button. This will bring a great deal of traffic – for free – to your sales page.

Blog about it. Hopefully, you have a blog already set up and ready to go in your niche. Make sure that you blog about this product, and link to the sales page. Use all of the usual blog promotion techniques to promote that post.

Ebay! Check the license agreement, and if it is allowed, list the product on eBay using the ‘buy it now’ feature. eBay gets millions of visitors each and every day. Most successful resell rights entrepreneurs have eBay Stores.

Find out where your competition is marketing, and market somewhere else. The best way to beat the competition is to avoid it altogether. Subscribe to ezines that have a proven track record. If your resell product is not being advertised in that ezine, make sure that you purchase an advertisement! With so much technology at our fingertips, many people have forgotten all about ezine marketing – even though it is still highly effective.

Think seasonal. Certain times of the year there are niches that get heavy traffic for a brief period of time. Choose products for niches that will be hot during those times, such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.

Track everything. Track your ad campaigns. You need to know what is working, and what isn’t. This allows you to focus more of your resources towards what works, and prevents you from wasting time with what does not. Never stop tracking and analyzing.

Make an instructional video that relates to your product. This video can be given away as a bonus or as a pre-sell item. People absolutely love instructional videos.

With these tips, you will find that you do better with your resell products. You may not think that these are ‘advanced strategies,’ but they really are. These are the things that the most successful resellers do on a daily basis, despite how simple it all sounds.

Oh, the confusion of it all! Resell Rights, Master Resell Rights, Private Label Rights. (...)

Oh, the confusion of it all! Resell Rights, Master Resell Rights, Private Label Rights. As an advanced marketer, you probably know what this all means – but which of these licenses should you choose when selecting products for your business?

Who ever said that you had to choose just one?

You can easily select products that have RR, MRR, or PLR for your business. Again, it is just a matter of keeping the license with the product so that you can always easily check to see what rights you have.

Let’s take a quick look at each type of license to see what the advantages and disadvantages are:

Resell Rights (RR):

If you have resell rights, you simply have the right to resell the product. In most cases, this means that you cannot change a single thing about the product, but you can usually alter the sales page or create your own sales page. In fact, if you can’t do that, you don’t want the resell rights, because they will be pretty much useless to you.

Resell rights vary. You may have the option of naming your own price when reselling the product or you may be required to sell it for a certain price or price range. In most cases, you cannot offer the product for free, and in many cases you cannot offer the product as part of a package deal.

Master Resell Rights (MRR):

Master Resell Rights work just like resell rights, with one major exception. When you have master resell rights, you have the right to resell the product, and the right to resell the resell rights to the product. In some cases, you may even be licensed to resell the master resell rights.

Other than this exception, master resell rights typically offer the same advantages and disadvantages as resell rights, however you do stand to gain more monetarily from master resell rights. If given the choice, always purchase master resell rights over plain resell rights.

Private Label Rights (PLR):

Private label rights offer the greatest flexibility. You can make changes to the product, the cover for the product, and of course the sales page, if one is included. Furthermore, you can put your name on the product as the author, which you can never do with resell rights.

You can typically set your own price for the product. You can give it away, and in most cases bundle it with other products at your own discretion, as long as it is not becoming part of another PLR package.

One thing to note with private label rights is that the product is not exactly ‘finished.’ It is a complete product, but unlike resell rights products, it is not ready to resell straight out of the box. The product must be changed before you can put it on the market.

The best case scenario: Offer a product to which you have master resell rights for sale. Have one price for the product, and one price for the resell rights and the product. Offer private label rights products as bonuses, or bundle the product – if this is allowed – with PLR products to increase its value and offer something that other people with master resell rights to the product are not offering.

Another great scenario: Sell the PLR product as the main product, with you as the author. If it is allowed, offer a resell product as a bonus or package it with the PLR product, again, if this is allowed.

Many people mistakenly think that the best way to go is to only deal with PLR products. You can make nice profits with this, while getting your name better known as an author of informational products and/or software.

However, it takes time to get PLR products ready to go to market. Often, there is an additional expense, especially if you have to have a PLR product rewritten. This is time that you can spend marketing. Besides this, there are many great products out there that offer resell and master resell rights, instead of PLR.

By failing to see and sell those products as well, you are doing a disservice to your customers, to yourself, and of course to your pocketbook. You can offer all three types of products in various markets – again, you just need to be organized and keep the license with the product on your hard drive, so that you always know exactly what rights you have for each product.

Again, there is no hard and fast rule that says that you can only offer resell rights products, or only deal with PLR products. Broaden your horizons, and fatten your wallet with a good mixture of resell rights products, master resell rights products, and private label products.

Not all of the products that you currently have on your hard drive will be worth anything. They may have been low-quality products to begin with. They may contain outdated information. They may already be flooding the marketplace. Before you seek out new resell rights products, however, let’s take a real look at what you have.

Start going through your files, and actually look at those products. If they are low-quality or outdated, there may be hope. Read the license and see if you have the right to ‘freshen’ them up. If you do not have that right, contact the product creator and see if he or she will give you the right – or sell you the right. They may even be willing to freshen up the product for you, if you approach them in the right way and help them to see the value of the product.

Get rid of anything that cannot be freshened up. If it contains outdated information, and you cannot get that information up-to-date, it isn’t of any use to you or anybody else. If the product is not of a higher quality, you don’t want your name associated with it. If you aren’t sure whether or not you should delete it, copy it over to a CD and store it away. Just get it out of your way for now.

Don’t get rid of those products that are flooding the market place. There may be a use for them later, depending on the license that accompanies them. Also, just because something is already being widely sold, this is no indication that you won’t be successful with it – it is just a matter of knowing how to sell it. You’ve heard of people who could sell snow to Eskimos – you may be one of those people.

Now, take another look at what you have. The number of products has most likely been greatly reduced, and as a professional reseller, you definitely need to be on the constant lookout for new resell rights products to add to your collection. Not just any resell rights product will do. You want high quality products in profitable niches.

Let’s first look at profitable niches. A profitable niche is any niche in which there is money being spent. If people are consistently advertising in a niche, they are doing so because they are making money from that advertising. Few businesses throw away good advertising dollars.

To find resell rights products, you can join PLR membership sites or purchase from one time sales. PLR stands for Private Label Rights. When joining such a site, look for one that has a limited number of members, as this limits the overall distribution of these products.

When selecting products, it is important that the product meet or exceed certain criteria. This criterion includes:

Is the product professional? Does it have a professional feel and sound to it?

Is the product new or already flooding the market?

Is the product part of a low priced package? (often these packages are not full of quality products, or products that are flooding the market already)

Is there a paying market for the product?

Is the product informative? Does it solve a problem or fill a need?

There are other things that you must look at as well, including:

What are my rights that are lined out in the license?

How much can I charge for the product? Is there a set price or can I choose my own?

Can the product be used as a bonus gift?

Is there a sales page included, and can that sales page be altered to suit me?

You must look at the purchase of resell rights products as an investment for your business. With any other type of business, you would think carefully about that investment, and only choose the best possible investment for your business. If you look at it from this point of view, you will be more successful in selecting quality resell rights products.

Also note that just because a product does not advertise that resell rights are available, this does not in anyway mean that they aren’t. Contact the product creator to see if they will sell the resell rights to you.
