Social Blogging

Blogging is still vital to Internet Marketers. Blogging is just as effective as it has always been, and possibly even more so now that you can use social bookmarking along with blogging and pinging. In fact, if you take a close look, many of the social networking sites now allow members to maintain blogs on their profile pages.

There has been a great deal of discussion about blogging in recent years, so the chances are good that you know what it is and how to do it. If you don’t, there are numerous courses out there as well. But do you know about social blogging?

Social blogging operates on the same premise as blogging. It is done exactly the same way – except if you are social blogging, you are blogging on a site that is more of a community. This is not the same as a social network site, although there are social network sites that allow blogging, which in turn would be social blogging as well. Are you confused?

Let’s clear it up. Most social networking sites are focused on the members profile pages – not necessarily on the blogs. Blog communities, however, are focused on the blogs, and there may not even be a profile page. Get it? Good.

So, even if you have a blog on your site already, it is still a good idea to do social blogging as well – even if you are just linking to what you are writing on your regular blog. This is a great way to get a good deal more traffic to your regular blog. It is important, however, to ‘fit’ in your blogging community.
